SUMMER STUDY '08 WILL BE SRO! AS WILL OTHER GREAT CONFERENCES COMING UP

In just a few short weeks, the 2008 Summer Study on Energy Efficiency in Buildings will commence at Asilomar Conference Center in Pacific Grove, California, August 17 - 22. Rooms are still available onsite, but we expect a sell-out crowd. Don't delay—register today if you haven't already done so. The full Session Schedule has been posted, and you can even sign up for an Informal Session online in advance.

For the first time ever, thanks to ACEEE Ally Program members ICF International and Seattle City Light, we are offering competitive scholarships to undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in an accredited college or university whose course work is related to energy/energy efficiency, climate change, environmental science, or a related field of study, and who are considering a career in energy/energy efficiency.

The deadline for applications is July 25. Selections will be announced by July 30.

Conference Co-Chairs Michael Baechler, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and Rich Brown, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory chose "Scaling Up: Building Tomorrow's Solutions" as the overarching theme for 2008 and recruited 25 energy efficiency experts to organize 12 topic panels. 301 peer-reviewed papers will be presented. Other highlights will include Display Sessions, plenaries, and "informalsessions" organized onsite by participants. ACEEE will also present "Champion of Energy Efficiency" awards at the 2008 Summer Study.

Although it's early, the 2008 Behavior, Energy and Climate Change (BECC) Conference is drawing unprecedented interest and we expect a sold-out crowd for this meeting, too. This will be the second annual BECC Conference, and will be held November 16-19 at the Hyatt Regency Sacramento in Sacramento, California, featuring presentations selected from more than 250 high quality abstract submissions. This year’s conference has been expanded to include more than 30 topic sessions, more than 100 presenters, and an expanded range of topics, including sessions on: climate policy, labor and workforce, carbon footprints and budgets, feedback technologies, culture/values/identity, organizational behavior, consumption and lifestyle, and city-level initiatives. In addition to the formal presentations, this BECC Conference will also include poster displays and informal roundtable sessions. Poster abstracts and roundtable discussion ideas will be accepted on a rolling basis and can be submitted online.Conference registration and hotel reservations are available now. Early Bird registration rates are available before September 5, 2008. Hotel accommodations are limited.
