LAST CALL TO REGISTER FOR BECC & "SAVE THE DATES" FOR NEW ACEEE MEETINGS

It's "last call" to register for the 2nd annual Behavior, Energy and Climate Change (BECC) conference to be held November 16-19 at the Hyatt Regency Sacramento, California. Registration is nearing 800 attendees including more than 130 speakers, discussion leaders, and poster presenters!

Convened by the California Institute for Energy and Environment (CIEE), University of California Office of the President; the Precourt Institute for Energy Efficiency (PIEE), Stanford University; and ACEEE,  the BECC Conference is focused on understanding the nature of individual and organizational behavior and decision making and using that knowledge to accelerate our transition to an energy-efficient and low carbon economy. BECC will bring together a diverse group of policymakers, social scientists, program implementers, media, and energy experts to explore the practical application of social and behavioral insights to address our climate challenges. The participants will review recent behavioral research, discuss current and emerging policy issues, share effective program/communication strategies, and encourage collaboration across government, utility, business, and research sectors. The goal is to achieve viable solutions for meeting long-term energy and greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets by improving the design, adoption, and continued effectiveness of policies, programs, technologies, and individual/organizational actions.

Insights from last year’s BECC conference will be available by the start of this year's in a new ACEEE report entitled Behavior, Energy and Climate Change: Policy Directions, Program Innovations, and Research Paths. The report draws from both the proceedings of the 2007 BECC conference as well as a variety of other resources to lay the groundwork for a more comprehensive understanding of behavior, energy, and climate change.
