The MS'08 serves as a platform for
international cooperation towards more
efficient electric motor systems in pumps,
fans, compressors, and mechanical traction.
Electric motors in industry, infrastructure,
and large building systems use 40% of
electricity worldwide. New motor and inverter
technology and new planning tools make for 20
to 30% energy efficiency improvement. High
fuel and electricity cost and growing
awareness of the perils of energy shortage
and climate change give a special focus on
motor efficiency.
Harmonized standards and minimum energy
performance standards (MEPS) have proven in
the USA, Australia, Canada, etc. to be an
efficient policy instrument for market
transformation. MS'08 is aimed at technical
and economical motor experts and users as
well as for strategic and political people
involved in energy efficiency. This year the
focus of MS'08 will be:
On November 24, 2008 an international Side
Event for the working groups of SEEEM, EuP, and
IEA
4E will be held.
