Typical Responsibilities:

•This position will be in the Design Engineering Organization (DEO) within Southern California Edison’s (SCE) San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS). This position is responsible for maintaining heat sink calculations, performing laydown requests, code related evaluations, seismic walkdowns and analyses related to regulatory compliance activities. The hired engineer may assume responsibilities different than the programs mentioned.

Typical responsibilities will include:
•Monitoring/maintaining plant infrastructure and the heat sink calculation database.
•Performing complex or novel civil engineering assignments.
•Determining the actions necessary to maintain the integrity and design basis of the assigned system.
•Continuously developing technical expertise to advise Plant/Program Engineering, Maintenance and Operations as a subject matter expert.
•Periodically going on-shift (including backshifts and weekends) to support outages and equipment failures requiring advanced technical knowledge to resolve.
•Supporting Emergency Response Organization and performing cause evaluations including Direct Cause Evaluations (DCE) and Apparent Cause Evaluations (ACE).
•Performing cause evaluations (DCE & ACE).
•Participating and may lead high impact teams (HIT) on assigned systems.
•Directing and performing engineering tasks associated with a large project or a number of small projects by championing through DEO organization, Work control and Maintenance.
•Maintaining a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.
•Performing other responsibilities and duties as assigned in the field of civil engineering.

Basic Qualification:
•Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
•Must have a minimum of three years of experience in engineering.

Job Requirements:
•Typically possesses five or more years of experience in civil engineering performing complex analysis.
•Demonstrated experience evaluating or applying engineering codes, standards, guides, methods and practices.
•Experience working on cross-functional project teams.
•Demonstrated experience performing failure analysis.
•Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
•Demonstrated ability to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.
•Must demonstrate the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks appropriately, develop and execute business plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.
•Must demonstrate effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.
•Must demonstrate strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.
•ANSI: Shall be competent in technical matters related to plant safety and other engineering and scientific support aspects.

Preferences:
•Professional Engineer's License in Civil Engineering.
