Summer is a time when Hollywood shines a light on epic stories of global proportions. Alien robots coming to conquer the planet, asteroids threatening to smash us to smithereens, Mayan prophesies of global devastation fulfilled—you get the picture. Here at ACEEE, we are working to solve some of the greatest threats humanity currently faces. Dwindling energy resources, rising temperatures, and countries that continue to teeter on the brink of economic collapse threaten the peace and health of mankind. While there is no superhero to rescue us, it’s well within our power to rescue ourselves. Using our precious energy resources more efficiently reduces greenhouse gas emissions and our exposure to poisons such as mercury. Improving energy efficiency reduces wasted resources, lowers the cost of goods and services, and creates jobs. It also provides economic stability by mitigating volatile forces like the sale of oil from war-torn countries and spiking energy prices.

ACEEE’s new report will, for the first time, evaluate what’s going wrong and what’s working in terms of how we are using our precious energy resources globally. The report, inspired by our State Energy Efficiency Scorecard, analyzes 27 different energy efficiency indicators and ranks 12 of the world’s largest economies representing over 78% of global gross domestic product, 63% of global energy consumption, and 62% of the global carbon dioxide equivalent emissions. The analysis highlights best practices for countries to adopt and includes a detailed explanation of the energy efficiency patterns in the United States over the last decade.

It’s not in 3D, but it is free. Come check it out here on July 12th.
