2004 ACEEE Summer Study on Energy Efficiency in Buildings

2004 ACEEE Informal Sessions Descriptions

Additional Informal Sessions may be organized on-site during the Summer Study. Visit the office in Surf and Sand to sign up for an Informal Session.

Session Synopsis - "Monitoring Energy Use in Buildings"

Nigel Isaacs, BRANZ

Monday, August 23
4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Real data on real energy use is the fundamental building block for all energy efficiency activity, yet there is remarkably little monitored energy use data available. The session is intended to provide an opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences with monitoring - equipment, data acquisition, calibration etc. All fuels are of interest - electricity, natural gas, LPG, solid fuel, solar (used as heat for water heating), fuel oil, etc - whether used in fixed or portable appliances. Experiences in the use either of dedicated monitoring equipment (e.g. research dataloggers) or revenue meters (utility meters), is also invited.
