Clothes Dryers and TopTen: New Savings from Emerging Technologies

Virtually all new clothes washers are sold with a matching dryer.  Clothes washers have been one of the great success stories of the efficiency community, yet there are no corresponding labeling or incentive programs to secure savings from dryers.  A number of European countries have captured significant new energy savings from heat pump clothes dryers and other new technologies promoted via a website called TopTen.  This session will bring together interested parties from around the world to learn more about the new clothes dryer technology and the savings potential, as well as the Internet-based mechanism for making consumers aware of the most efficient products on the market.  A U.S.-based version of TopTen is now in development.
