About the Conference (Original Announcement):

ACEEE and CEE are pleased to announce the ninth annual National Symposium on Market Transformation. Each year, the Symposium brings together policy makers, program planners, implementers and evaluators, as well as manufacturers and trade allies to discuss the latest progress in the field of market transformation. Since the inaugural workshop in 1997, the field of market transformation has witnessed considerable growth and change, often in response to new challenges and shifts in the operating climate for energy efficiency programs and services. The Symposium seeks to address these opportunities and challenges with an agenda covering timely topics as well as updates on the effectiveness of various program approaches, new strategies for program design, integration of multiple program objectives, and evaluation methodologies.

The 2005 National Symposium on Market Transformation will highlight successes achieved to date and explore the challenges and approaches to building on these successes. In keeping with the symposium theme of "Expanding Boundaries," sessions will explore the ways that market transformation continues to grow in new directions, both geographically and programmatically. Participants will also hear about the latest innovative program designs, new evaluation results, and promising approaches to addressing future challenges. Sessions will include:

  • An opening plenary delving into the ways that market transformation is expanding to meet new challenges as the field enters its second decade. Prominent speakers will discuss market transformation in the broader context of resource efficiency and the key obstacles and opportunities on the horizon.

  • Larger breakout sessions covering the latest activities by region; what's happening with natural gas policies and prices; MT news from our Canadian neighbors; new delivery models for energy efficiency; strategies for pursuing market transformation efforts on a limited budget; and the next big ideas to watch out for.

  • Finally, smaller working sessions allowing participants to discuss a number of important and timely topics. Five program tracks will cover residential programs, commercial programs, industrial programs, evaluation and market research, and cross-cutting topics. Sessions will cover a host of market transformation programs, energy-efficient products and practices, issues in program evaluation, and much more.

Updated schedule and program information will be posted here soon.
