1995 ACEEE Summer Study on Energy Efficiency in Industry

Partnerships, Productivity and the Environment

Holiday Inn Resort and Conference Center
Grand Island, NY
August 01, 1995 to August 04, 1995

Conference Chair:

Joseph M. Roop, Pacific Northwest Laboratory

This was the first ACEEE Summer Study on Energy Efficiency in Industry and the program committee chose an appropriate theme: Partnerships, Productivity and the Environment. This theme recognized that industry's main concerns are productivity improvements and environmental issues; creating energy efficiency through partnerships with utilities and government agencies can be an effective way to improve productivity and mitigate environmental concerns. This conference provided an opportunity to explore these major issues and examined ways to encourage these partnerships more effectively.

As with the ACEEE Summer Study on Energy Efficiency in Buildings, the program committee organized the conference around formal presentations in the morning and informal presentations and study groups in the afternoon. A major difference was three sector studies commissioned by industry: one for the pulp and paper industry, one for the chemicals industry and one for the metals fabrication and equipment industries.
