In 2003, the Legislature established greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction goals for 2010, 2020, and beyond (38 M.R.S.A. §576). Maine also completed a Climate Action Plan in 2004, and the state is an active participant in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative cap-and-trade program.
