Building Codes

Arizona State Energy Codes

Summary:

Arizona has no statewide mandatory residential energy code; the 2000 IECC is voluntary. For commercial structures, ASHRAE 90.1 – 1999 is mandatory for state-owned and state-funded buildings only. Arizona is a home-rule state, meaning that codes are adopted and enforced on a local rather than state level. Lists of jurisdictions that have adopted codes can be found at the EERE and BCAP pages linked below.
