Building Codes

New Hampshire Energy Code

Summary:

The New Hampshire Energy Code is a state code that references the 2006 IECC amended to Climate Zone 6, and is mandatory statewide for both residential and commercial construction. The commercial code references ASHRAE 90.1-2004.

The State's Building Code Review Board adopted the IECC 2009 Energy Code effective October 1, 2009.  It is likely that the effective date will slip toward January 1, 2010 as the Board is reviewing but has not yet held Public Hearings nor deliberated the whole suite of ICC 2009 codes and has expressed its desire to make all up-dated codes effective on the same date. The Board is also considering a number of amendments to the IECC 2009.
