Building Codes

Ohio State Energy Codes

Summary:

Both Ohio's residential and commercial energy codes are mandatory statewide. The residential code is based off the 2006 IECC. Builders are also allowed to meet the requirements of sections 1101-1103 of Chapter 11 of the Residential Code of Ohio (based on Chapter 11 of the 2006 IRC) or by meeting the state code's new Prescriptive Energy Requirements (section 1104). The commercial code is based on the 2006 IECC, with reference to ASHRAE 90.1-2004.
