Building Codes

Texas State Energy Codes

Summary:

Texas' building codes are mandatory for both residential and commercial construction. Residential and commercial buildings must comply with the 2000 IECC with the 2001 supplement, although the commercial codes also reference ASHRAE 90.1 – 2001. State-funded buildings must meet a stricter standard – residential construction must meet the 2003 IECC, and commercial buildings must meet the ASHRAE 90.1 – 2007 standard. For all buildings, jurisdictions can choose to adopt more stringent standards.
