Wisconsin Energy Independence Fund

Summary: In 2008, Wisconsin Office of Energy Independence and the Wisconsin Department of Commerce, awarded $7.2 million in Wisconsin Energy Independence Fund (WEIF) grants to businesses for new technology, research and development. Some of the money went to companies developing energy-efficient lighting systems, automotive batteries, and energy storage systems. The Governor has committed $150 million over 10 years to this effort.
