Highly efficient air conditioners and heat pumps use superior mechanical efficiency and advanced controls to save building energy. This equipment can provide energy efficiency program administrators with long-term energy savings. In these technical briefs, ACEEE provides an analysis of the current market as well as costs and energy savings for very high efficiency equipment. We conclude with recommendations for 2019 programs, including what types of equipment to incentivize and examples of successful program models.
