Energy Choices Revisited: An Examination of the Costs and Benefits of Maine's Energy Policy

Maine has been a leader in the development of energy-efficiency technologies. This in-depth analysis shows that while the state’s utility rates have increased by more than 35 percent in recent years, the alternative energy policies appear to have contributed less than one-third of that total. On the other hand, the energy efficiency and renewable energy industry now support more than 6,000 jobs in Maine, and have significantly reduced the level of air emissions.
