ACEEE Utilities Program

Utility sector energy efficiency programs save electricity and natural gas at half the cost of new energy supplies. Energy efficiency must become the “first fuel” of our utility systems.

The ACEEE Utilities Program works with policymakers, regulators, utilities, and other interested parties to advance the use of cost-effective energy efficiency as a utility system resource. We conduct research, disseminate information, and assist with the design and implementation of utility-sector energy efficiency policies and programs.

Latest Highlights

Current Projects

  • Development of new business models
  • Collaboration with RE-AMP
  • Research on advanced metering and customer behavior (with the ACEEE Economic and Social Analysis Program)
  • Analysis of the expansion of programs for electricity and natural gas
  • Exploration of the potential impact of plug-in vehicles (with the ACEEE Transportation Program)
