State Scorecards and Tracking

States vary widely in their funding and support of utility-sector energy efficiency programs. Certain states and regions enjoy long records of achievement with such programs, while other states have done little or nothing to fund and implement energy efficiency programs. ACEEE’s Utilities Program periodically tracks individual state level funding and impacts for utility-sector energy efficiency programs---both utility- and non-utility-administered programs. ACEEE’s “Scorecards” and related publications allow ready comparison among state-level efforts and also yield critical data on national status and trends.

Activities

  • Comprehensive report on the recent expansion of programs for electricity and natural gas (in progress)

  • Surveys and data analysis for the 2009 Energy Efficiency Scorecard

  • 50-state survey on administrative structures, funding mechanisms, funding levels, and types of programs offered

  • Analysis of state expenditures and savings from both utility demand-side management and public benefits energy efficiency programs for the 2008 and 2006 Energy Efficiency Scorecards
