The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) seeks a communications and marketing assistant.  A national nonprofit research organization based in Washington, DC, ACEEE aims to advance energy efficiency as a way to boost economic growth, improve health, and protect the environment. We are a mission-driven, collaborative, entrepreneurial organization that offers workplace flexibility and professional development.

We seek a creative go-getter to promote our robust research and policy work, which addresses all aspects of saving energy – from technological advances to behavioral approaches, health benefits, and climate change mitigation. The assistant will help craft online content and perform other tasks as needed. As part of the communications team, the assistant reports to the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications. The core responsibilities include:

  • Writes, edits, and posts online content
  • Researches and crafts Google ads
  • Produces basic graphics and videos
  • Collaborates with researchers on promotional materials
  • Tracks media clips and research impact using Cision and other tools
  • Sends email blasts using Pardot
  • Helps coordinate communications efforts for the energy efficiency community
  • Assists Senior Director of Marketing and Communications

Expectations and Responsibilities:

  • Superb writing and editing skills
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects with competing deadlines
  • Facility with social media and data analytics
  • Familiarity with graphics and video software
  • Ability to strategize as well as execute projects
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Highly motivated self-starter who works collaboratively and independently


Bachelor’s degree in humanities, journalism, marketing or sciences

Strongly preferred:

  • Prior communications-related work or internship
  • Experience with producing graphics and video
  • Demonstrated passion for clean energy, sustainability, or environmental issues
  • Knowledge of energy issues

Preferred start date: August/September 2018, based in Washington, DC
