Workshop on Emerging Technologies for Heavy-Duty Fuel Efficiency

Workshop on Emerging Technologies for Heavy-Duty Fuel Efficiency

ACEEE and the International Council for Clean Transportation (ICCT) held a workshop in July 2014 to discuss fuel-saving engine and vehicle technologies for heavy-duty tractor trucks that would be entering the market over the next decade. The context for the workshop was federal agencies’ development of the second phase of fuel efficiency and greenhouse gas standards for heavy-duty vehicles, to be proposed in early 2015. Leading truck and equipment manufacturers presented emerging technologies and their potential benefits in real-world operation, and users discussed considerations around the adoption of fuel-saving technologies. The workshop report outlines the findings on fuel savings potential of vehicle and engine technologies for tractor trucks and related issues.
