This fact sheet reports the benefits that would accrue if the state of Georgia updated its residential building energy codes. We quantify the utility bill savings, energy reductions, peak demand reduction, avoided electricity system costs, health benefits, and carbon mitigation that would result from upgrading Georgia’s current code (2015 IECC with amendments) to 2021 IECC. We also report the benefits of Georgia going “beyond-code” by adopting Passive House standards for new construction.
