This fact sheet reviews the economic, energy, and environmental benefits of federal appliance, equipment, and lighting standards. It focuses on two major Congressional actions necessary to support those benefits:
- Congress should continue to support strong national standards and reject calls to repeal the consensus incandescent light bulb standards enacted in 2007.
-
In addition, Congress should pass new consensus appliance standards that have been proposed by manufacturers and energy efficiency advocates.
The fact sheet also highlights the jobs created by standards already put in place and those standards planned by the Department of Energy and in consensus standards.
