This first-of-its-kind map shows where industrial heat pumps (IHPs) and other electric heat technologies are being deployed across the United States. These technologies are essential for industrial efficiency, competitiveness, and cost reductions. There is a growing electric technology market, as shown by installations in key industrial subsectors, including food and beverage manufacturing, chemical manufacturing, and pulp and paper manufacturing. However, there is significant additional potential that can be unlocked by well-designed programs and policies to reduce entry and operational costs. IHPs and other electric technologies have the potential to replace many industrial boilers at scale, affording manufacturers multiple long-lasting benefits. Additional discussion of this map and policy solutions is available in our blog post.
This map is not exhaustive. We are aware of many installations that are currently confidential. We plan to continue to add to the map as we become aware of new installations, and we welcome additional submissions. We sourced map data from public information as well as from partners and stakeholders in the IHP supply chain. To view a full list of the installations we mapped, you can download our dataset.
