Policy Director – Decision Maker Education & Engagement – Central

Advanced Energy United educates, engages, and advocates for policies that allow our member companies to compete to power our economy with 100% clean energy. We work with decision-makers at every level of government as well as regulators of energy markets to achieve this goal.

Advanced Energy United seeks an experienced, strategic, and innovative Policy Director to focus on decision-maker education and engagement in central states (covering the area from the Midwest down through Texas). The Policy Director will work with other United team members to develop and implement educational strategies designed to achieve policy successes at the state level that will expand markets for the advanced energy industry and accelerate the U.S. transition to 100% clean energy.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Work with members and subject matter experts across the organization and externally to design and implement customized educational sessions and forums for public utility commissioners and staff in central states to accelerate the U.S. transition to 100% clean energy.
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with public utility commissioners and staff, as well as Advanced Energy United staff, members, and partners.
  • Travel on an as-needed basis (up to 15%) to targeted states for educational events and other efforts on behalf of Advanced Energy United.
  • Manage/mentor/develop junior staff

Ideal Candidate:

  • At least seven (7) years professional experience and engagement in the clean energy sector.
  • Bachelor’s and/or Advanced degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Economics, Law or Engineering preferred, or applicable comparable experience.
  • Experience engaging with state public utility commissions strongly preferred.
  • Entrepreneurial approach, flexible attitude, and ability to operate independently, making decisions consistent with Advanced Energy United’s mission/vision.

Compensation: $120,000-$130,000
