Hassaan Idrees , K-Electric
Hassaan Idrees is from Karachi, Pakistan. He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in electrical engineering from National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) and Arizona State University (ASU), respectively. He has professional experience in electric utility, petroleum and consumer goods companies. As a Fulbrighter in the U.S. from 2014-2016 he worked in projects for the ASU power systems research center. During this time, he was the vice president of ASU Engineers Without Borders (EWB-USA) chapter, organizing a regional EWB conference and working in local and international engineering development projects. In December 2014 Secretary Ernest Moniz of the U.S. DoE appreciated Hassaan for his work in the development projects in the Native American communities. Hassaan is an active member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), serving in various capacities internationally. In 2013 Hassaan and a global team of engineers won the IEEE Young Professionals Project Competition in San Jose, CA, with their design of an RFID based rural e-health record system for Kerala, India. He is currently working as an Assistant Manager at K-Electric, a vertically integrated electric utility in southern Pakistan. His work deals in integration of renewable electrical energy systems and demand side management. Hassaan is passionate about energy, and hopes to improve the power system of Pakistan.
