ACEEE supports utilities and public utility commissions with planning efforts and program design to expand EV access, improve demand planning and demand flexibility, and accelerate electrification timelines for freight hubs, transit fleets, and personal vehicles. Ongoing efforts include the utility EV working group and fleet electrification program.
Utility EV Working Group
ACEEE’s utility-only EV working group focuses on the unique challenges utilities face in developing electric vehicle (EV) programs that serve low- and moderate-income communities. By facilitating peer-to-peer learning and inviting expert guest speakers, ACEEE supports utilities in creating inclusive, scalable strategies to drive EV adoption in underserved areas.

Fleet Electrification Support for Utilities and Public Utility Commissions
ACEEE aims to address the need to accommodate increased concentrated power loads introduced through the electrification of electric trucks, delivery vans, buses, and other fleet types by collaborating with utilities and public utility commissions. By gathering insights and best practices from utilities already making progress in fleet electrification and delivering customized technical assistance in response to specific requests from utilities and their regulators, ACEEE aims to provide implementable support and distill guidance that can be widely applicable to other utilities.
